Did You Know?
- Greater than 1/3 of the U.S. Population has a sleeping disorder-Yet, less than 20% have been diagnosed
- There are now more patients with Obstructive Sleep Apnea than with Diabetes and Asthma
- Snoring is the 3rd leading cause of Divorce in America
Our Inspiration
Researchers have linked sleep disorders with exhaustion, stroke, diabetes, hypertension, heart disease, weight gain, depression, anxiety, memory impairment, behavioral problems, and snoring to name a few.
That being said, our inspiration stems from the difference this treatment has made in the lives of our patients. This is why we spend a considerable amount of time and resources on education in the community.

- WE SEE PATIENTS PRIOR TO THEIR SLEEP STUDIES, TO TAILOR THEIR TESTS TO THEIR INDIVIDUAL NEEDS
Our Center regards sleep diagnostic procedures as a procedure that needs to be planned and customized, to ensure that each individual patient’s needs will be met. Our Medical Director sees each patient personally in advance of any sleep studies, and then provides the technical staff with detailed guidelines, precautions and instructions in every case. This is important to note because at some sleep centers, referred patients are never seen by a physician with sleep medicine expertise prior to testing. The patients simply arrive without any prior transmission of relevant history or guidelines for technologist interventions. - PROMPT INSTITUTION OF TREATMENT, TO PREVENT COMPLICATIONS FROM DELAYED CARE
At many sleep centers, neither patients nor their referring physicians receive test results for weeks or months: a circumstance that can leave seriously ill sleep apnea patients at substantial risk. At our Center, all sleep recordings are reviewed and interpreted by Dr. Yong on the day following testing. All severely afflicted patients are contacted by telephone or seen in the office on that same day and immediate institution of treatment is ordered, in addition to dictation of a summary letter to the patient’s physician. - WE OFFER THE MOST COMPREHENSIVE DIAGNOSTIC AND TREATMENT CAPABILITIESOur center is also at the forefront of important new treatments. Fifteen to twenty percent of patients with obstructive sleep apnea immediately develop repeated pauses in breathing from lack of breathing effort, with severe sleep fragmentation and inability to maintain restful sleep, upon being started on either CPAP or bilevel positive airway pressure. A large percentage of these patients cannot tolerate CPAP or bilevel PAP as a consequence and abandon treatment. Failure to address this problem appears to represent a major cause of the nationally poor rates of compliance with treatment of obstructive sleep apnea and the condition, if severe and untreated, can be life-threatening. Fortunately, a new answer, oral appliance therapy has proven to be effective for many of our patients.
- WE DOCUMENT QUALITY ASSURANCE AND HIGH LEVELS OF PATIENT SATISFACTION WITH CARE. FOLLOW-UP SUPPORT, TO ACHIEVE SUSTAINED GOOD OUTCOMES AND TREATMENT COMPLIANCE
Poor compliance can pose serious problems in sleep medicine, particularly with use of positive airway pressure. Some studies have indicated that over half of patients started on CPAP abandon treatment: leaving them at recurrent and ongoing risk of such complications as heart attack, heart failure, stroke and sleep-related highway crashes .
Our Center provides the follow-up care and support needed to help patients get and stay well.
What to Expect During Your Evaluation
During your clinic visit, you will be evaluated by Dr. Yong , who will ask you questions about your sleep and possibly schedule you for a sleep study.
During a sleep study, your accommodations will include a professionally decorated, luxurious, private bedroom and bathroom designed to induce relaxation. While asleep, trained technicians will monitor your heart, breathing and oxygen levels to help Dr. Yong in developing an accurate diagnosis.
Following your study, Dr. Yong will review the results with you and make treatment recommendations based on her findings. Most patients will experience life changing improvements almost immediately once their sleep disorder is treated.
